Sometime in the future civilization has become littered with zombies and cannibals. Two Laotian women from opposite ends of the world are brought together by a mysterious orphan. Their journey, framed under the Five Buddhist tenets, is told through an amalgamation of severed heads, forced kisses, human steaks, and a chorus of gangster Buddhist monks.

Playwrights
Preston Choi is a Chicago based playwright whose work focuses on Asian American history, the mixed race experience, and social science fiction. His plays have been developed/produced with Theatre Mu, Silk Road Rising, A Squared Theatre, The Passage Theatre, Late Night Dim Sum, AATAB, Artists at Play, CAATA, Victory Gardens, G45 Productions, City Lit, Wave Productions, and Vertigo Productions. His play A Great Migration won the 2017 Agnes Nixon Playwriting Award, and was a finalist for Playwrights Realm’s 2018-2019 Scratchpad Series. He graduated from Northwestern University in 2018 with a BS in Theatre within the Playwriting Module.

Susan H. Pak is a Chicago Dramatists Resident Playwright. She received an MFA in writing for the screen and stage at Northwestern University; she received both a BA in English and a JD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Her plays have been produced in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles and include: Election at the Goodman Theatre, The Fixer at the Steppenwolf Theatre, Marabar at Chicago Dramatists, Ghost Girl at the Workshop Theater, T.A.B. at New York’s Downtown Urban Theater Festival, and the Manhattan Repertory Theater Festival; Haters at New York’s Midtown International Theater Festival; Baby Shower at New York’s Network One Act Festival; Incredible Invisible at Chicago’s Bailiwick Director’s Fest; Ladies’ Man at Chicago Dramatists; and The Writers at Theater Unleashed in Los Angeles. |
Saymoukda Duangphouxay Vongsay is a Lao American writer. She was born in a refugee camp in Nongkhai, Thailand and immigrated to Minnesota in 1985. Because of her unique background, her work is focused on creating tools and spaces for the amplification of refugee voices through poetry, theater, and experimental cultural production

Zhanna Albertini is thrilled to take part in Our Perspective for the first time, and is grateful for the opportunity. She is ALSO thrilled to be fighting zombies (also for the first time). She has enjoyed working on a number of new works with Steep Theatre, Silk Road Rising Theatre, MMPACT, Other Theatre, Chicago Dramatists, and Stage Left Theatre. You can see Zhanna again in the industry night performance of The Effect at Strawdog theatre, November 19. Zhanna is a proud, recent graduate of the ACADEMY at Black Box Acting.

Dana Macel is thrilled to be a part of Our Perspective’s Horror and Comedy Play Readings. Previously, she has appeared in UNDERWORLD ANTHEM (Abaisses Theatre) and MACBETH (Odd’s Bodkins). Dana has also worked with Improv Playhouse and Compass Creative Dramatics performing theatre for young audiences.

Jonald Jude Reyes (he/him/his) is a writer, performer, and director from Chicago, by way of Rutgers University in New Jersey. He is a Director for The Second City’s Touring Company. Jonald was honored to be named The Chicago Reader’s Best of Stage Director (2016). He is a member of Directors Lab Lincoln Center Theater 2017 and DirectorsLabChicago 2016. His recent directing credits include Urban Twist’s Public Empathy #1 (Second City), The Alchemy of Bliss (Steppenwolf Theatre’s LookOut Series), Wake Up Hyde Park!
