Karissa Murrell Myers

Producer, Casting Director
Karissa Murrell Myers is a hapa theatre artist originally from Boise, Idaho. She is Chicago-based and works professionally as an actor, director, casting director, and a producer. Her work as a performer has been seen on television and range of large regional theatres to small, independent storefront theatres. She has an MFA in Performance from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Boise State University, and is a recent graduate of The School at Steppenwolf. She is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA.

As a passionate advocate of diversity in the arts, her work in the theatre primarily focuses on uplifting the work of marginalized voices in the theatre, and specifically hapa and Asian Pacific American artists. She joined Our Perspective in 2018 as a producer to promote the work of Asian Pacific American playwrights in the Midwest and assist in the building up of the AAPI theatre community. She also works at Strawdog Theatre Company as their resident Casting Director and utilizes her position to be a fierce advocate for actors there.
